The DHS Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is holding a one-day security workshop to educate attendees on active shooter preparedness. This event will be hosted in Batavia, IL on April 16, 2020 from 8:30am-4:00pm.  The event is free of charge but advance registration is mandatory—to register, please click here. Early registration is highly recommended, as these events tend to fill up very quickly.

The workshop covers prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery considerations for an active shooter situation.  It aims to:

  • Educate participants on the history of active shooter events;
  • Describe common behavior, conditions, and situations associated with active shooters; and
  • Foster communication between critical infrastructure owners and operators and local emergency response teams. This course includes discussions of interoperability, communications protocols, and best practices for planning, preparedness, and response.


Please note:

  • Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory is hosting the workshop in Building 327 (see the map on page 2 of the attached flyer).
  • Free parking is available on-site at Building 327. Overflow parking is available across the street.
  • On-site check in will begin at 7:30am. The workshop will begin at 8:30am.
  • Water and coffee will be available to participants. Lunch is on your own.
